Females & Allies Meetup - Code of Conduct
Our mission is to create a supportive and inclusive environment where women entrepreneurs and investors can thrive, and where male allies can play an active role in fostering gender equality in business. This Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behavior expected from all attendees, speakers, panelists, organizers, and sponsors to ensure a positive experience for everyone.
1. Respect and Inclusivity
We are committed to creating a space that is welcoming to people of all backgrounds, genders, ethnicities, ages, abilities, sexual orientations, and identities.
- Respect Others: Treat everyone with kindness, courtesy, and respect. Avoid offensive or inappropriate comments related to gender, race, ethnicity, religion, age, ability, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic.
- Inclusive Language: Use language that promotes inclusivity and avoid language that reinforces stereotypes or excludes any group.
- Collaboration Over Competition: Encourage an atmosphere of collaboration rather than competition. Share your knowledge and support the success of others.
2. Safe and Supportive Environment
The safety and well-being of all attendees are of utmost importance.
- No Harassment: Harassment of any kind, including but not limited to offensive verbal comments, unwanted physical attention, or inappropriate advances, will not be tolerated. This applies to all communication channels, whether in-person, online, or via social media.
- Zero Tolerance for Discrimination: Discrimination or exclusionary behavior will not be tolerated. This includes any actions or language that alienates or marginalizes others based on gender, race, sexual orientation, disability, or background.
- Safe Spaces for Expression: Everyone should feel safe and encouraged to express their ideas, concerns, and experiences without fear of criticism or retaliation.
3. Professionalism and Accountability
All participants should conduct themselves professionally at all times.
- Constructive Feedback: Offer constructive and respectful feedback. Personal attacks, demeaning remarks, or negative commentary will not be tolerated.
- Acknowledging Others’ Contributions: Give credit where it’s due. Acknowledge the contributions and efforts of others.
- Accountability: Be accountable for your actions. If you realize that something you’ve said or done has offended or excluded someone, be open to feedback, and be willing to apologize and learn from the experience.
4. Participation and Engagement
We value the contributions of all participants and encourage active engagement.
- Be Present and Engaged: Whether attending in-person or virtually, contribute actively and engage with speakers, panelists, and other attendees. Participate in discussions, ask questions, and share your insights.
- Supportive Networking: Foster connections in a supportive and meaningful way. Avoid using the event solely for self-promotion or to push unsolicited business proposals.
- Support Learning and Growth: Help others learn and grow by sharing your experiences and offering mentorship when appropriate.
5. Male Allyship
We are committed to fostering strong male allyship to support the empowerment of women in business.
- Male Allies: Male allies attending this event are expected to follow the Male Ally Guidelines. This includes listening actively, promoting inclusivity, and supporting women in a way that amplifies their voices rather than taking center stage.
6. Consequences for Violations
Violations of this Code of Conduct are taken seriously. If an individual engages in inappropriate behavior, the event organizers may take any action they deem necessary, including but not limited to:
- A warning to the offending individual
- Expulsion from the event without a refund
- Reporting the behavior to appropriate authorities if severe
If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it to an event organizer immediately. All reports will be treated with confidentiality.
7. Contact Information
